Luis Suarez pleased with Barcelona control

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez claims that his team needed to "control" Wednesday's Champions League last-16 second leg against Arsenal in order to secure progression.

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has claimed that it was important that his team 'controlled the game' against Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Spanish giants booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the European Cup courtesy of a 3-1 win at Camp Nou, which made it 5-1 overall in the last-16 tie.

Arsenal's best period came early in the second half when Mohamed Elneny levelled the scores on the night, but Suarez has insisted that his team were never in any serious danger on home soil.

"We needed to control the game when it was 2-1 because we knew about their physical condition and because they had the result going against them," Suarez told UEFA.com.

"We knew they were going to go and take the game to us. In the end we proved we are strong here and made home advantage count."

Suarez's second-half volley against Arsenal moved him onto 43 goals for the season.
