Half-Time Report: Barcelona repelled by Real Sociedad

Barcelona are denied a half-time lead as Geromino Rulli make several saves to keep Real Sociedad level at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona have been unable to break down Real Sociedad despite dominating the first half at the Camp Nou.

Luis Enrique's side almost took the lead in the opening minutes when Geronimo Rulli produced a flying stop to keep out Lionel Messi's header, after a well-placed cross from Daniel Alves.

Within moments, the Catalan giants were threatening a breakthough again when Rulli clawed away another effort from the head of Luis Suarez.

Barca, who started the game two points ahead of Real Madrid, continued to dominate and could have been ahead when Neymar's low drive was tipped away by the Sociedad stopper.

Just after the half-hour mark, the hosts squandered another chance when Messi weaved enough space to produce a deft cross for Suarez at the back post, only for the Uruguayan to head his effort wide of goal.

However, David Moyes's team served a timely reminder of their own threat to Barcelona when Markel Bergara's shot deflected narrowly over Claudio Bravo's crossbar.

The Blaugrana could secure the title this weekend if they remain ahead of Real and a proposed strike goes ahead, potentially ending the domestic season after this weekend's fixtures as a result.
