Just one of two teams to beat Barca at Camp Nou this season, Celta reminded the Catalans how dangerous they can be by dominating the first half, but have so far failed to yield tangible reward for their labours.
Joaquin Larrivey, who scored the decisive goal in Catalunya, saw his low drive pushed away by goalkeeper Claudio Bravo after 10 minutes in the game's first chance.
With four successive La Liga wins under their belt, the visitors soon found their rhythm and threatened on 13 minutes when Neymar fired wide after Lionel Messi's curler was well saved by Sergio Alvarez.
It was the hosts who finished the half in the ascendancy as Eduardo Berizzo's side saw their opener chalked off, with Fabian Orellana flagged offside when Pablo Hernandez found the net.
Unperturbed, Celta continued in the same vein and perhaps should have snatched a half-time lead when Larrivey failed to convert Orellana's cross from a great position.
