Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati has reportedly elected to play international football for Spain.
The 16-year-old was born in Guinea-Bissau but has lived in Spain since the age of six, coming through the academy systems at Sevilla and Barca.
The Spanish Football Federation are hoping to use Fati in the Under-17 World Cup, which is due to be played in Brazil during October and November.
Speaking to El Larguero, youth coach David Gordo stated that Fati had chosen to play for Spain and that assuming all the paperwork is completed correctly, the winger will be in the preliminary list of 50 players that Spain submit to FIFA on September 25.
Fati has taken Spanish football by storm this season, scoring twice in his first three league appearances and coming off the bench in Barcelona's Champions League tie with Borussia Dortmund, which finished 0-0.
