Diego Simeone "proud" of Atletico Madrid team

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone refuses to criticise his team for losing their discipline during Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Barcelona in La Liga.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has said that he is "proud" of his team following Saturday's La Liga clash against Barcelona.

Atletico took a 10th-minute lead at Camp Nou through Koke, but lost 2-1 after goals from Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

The visitors also finished the match with 10 men after having both Filipe Luis and Diego Godin dismissed, but Simeone refused to criticise his side for their lack of discipline.

"I leave with the feeling of being proud of the team. Incredible. We will play the next match at home against Eibar with the same enthusiasm," Simeone told reporters.

The result has left Atletico second in the La Liga table, three points behind Barcelona, who also have a game in hand.
