Luis Enrique has admitted that Barcelona had "doubts" before signing Luis Suarez as to whether he could fit in to the La Liga side's way of playing.
The Spanish champions signed the Uruguay international from Liverpool last season, reportedly paying around £75m despite the striker serving a third ban for biting an opponent at the start of the season.
After Suarez scored his seventh goal in 10 Champions League appearances to help the team to a 3-1 win over Juventus in Saturday's final, the manager told reporters: "When we thought about Luis Suarez and considered him we knew of his great quality and his tremendous scoring figures but of course we had doubts about whether he would adapt to a different team and a different way of play.
"As it has turned out he has been one of the best players we have ever signed and it was a very good decision to put our trust in him. We paid a lot of money but he has shown he has tremendous hunger."
Suarez has scored 25 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions since completing the move to Barcelona.
