Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has said that 23-year-old midfielder Sergi Roberto is "more than ready" to step into the senior set-up for Spain.
Roberto has thrived in the Barcelona first team in recent weeks and provided both assists in their 2-0 win over Getafe in La Liga at the weekend.
The midfielder's form has led to suggestions that he will be called up by Vicente del Bosque for the friendlies against England and Belgium later this month, and Enrique has said that Roberto is ready to make the step up.
"That would be great, it's great for any player. Sergi Roberto is a player I had with Barca B. I know what a top-quality player he is," Enrique told reporters.
"It's difficult to play for any national team, especially the Spanish team, but I think he's more than ready."
Roberto has 14 Spain Under-21 caps to his name.
