Report: Thomas Vermaelen nearing Barcelona return

A report claims that Belgian centre-back Thomas Vermaelen could make his Barcelona debut in next weekend's La Liga clash with Athletic Bilbao.

Thomas Vermaelen could reportedly make his Barcelona debut in next weekend's La Liga clash with Athletic Bilbao.

The centre-back joined the Catalan outfit from Arsenal this summer, but arrived at the Camp Nou with an injury and has thus far been unable to make his debut for the club.

According to AS, the Belgian international has taken part in full-contact training this week and could be in contention for the league clash against Bilbao after the international break.

Andres Iniesta is also believed to be nearing a return.
