Tito Vilanova believes that Barcelona have been "the best team" in La Liga this season and have deservedly won the title.

Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova believes that his side have deservedly won La Liga this season.

The Catalan giants were confirmed as the winners of the Spanish first division on Saturday when second-placed Real Madrid were held to a draw by Espanyol away from home.

"We have been the best team in La Liga without a doubt and by a big margin," ESPN quotes him as saying. "I would value the work done by the players. This is not Tito's Liga, not at all - it is won by the team. This is a team game.

"Sometimes big teams can drop points early. So the objective was to get 15 points from first five games. We had an advantage from there.

"After that, when everyone said the league was already won, we were mentally strong to hold off a Real Madrid side that played an exceptional second half of the season."

Barcelona last won La Liga in 2010-11.
