How Barcelona could line up against Atletico Madrid

Sports Mole looks at how Barcelona could line up against Atletico Madrid on Sunday night.

Barcelona will be looking to make it five straight wins in all competitions when they travel to the Wanda Metropolitano to face Atletico Madrid on Sunday night.

The Spanish champions currently top the table with 28 points, although Real Madrid will have the chance to move to the summit when they face Alaves on Saturday afternoon.

Ernesto Valverde's side have won their last two in La Liga, while they booked their spot in the last-16 stage of the Champions League with a 3-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Barca could line up in the Spanish capital.

POSS BAR XI vs. ATM

Out: Nelson Semedo (calf), Sergio Busquets (suspension)
Doubtful: Jordi Alba (muscle), Ousmane Dembele (thigh)

Barca will definitely be without the services of Nelson Semedo and Sergio Busquets this weekend, with the former out with a calf injury and the latter unavailable due to suspension.

Jordi Alba is also unlikely to overcome a muscular problem in time to feature, meaning that Sergi Roberto and Junior Firpo should continue in the full-back areas with Gerard Pique also featuring after missing out against Dortmund due to a domestic suspension.

Ousmane Dembele is also unlikely to be available due to a thigh issue, meaning that Antoine Griezmann should line up alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in the final third of the field.

Perhaps the only major talking point when it comes to team selection surrounds the middle of the park, where Valverde has a decision to make.

Indeed, Arthur should return to join Frenkie de Jong in a central area, leaving Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic, who started against Dortmund, to battle for the final spot.
