Ante Budimir scores twice as Osasuna record a 4-2 victory over La Liga leaders Barcelona at El Sadar on Saturday night.

Barcelona's winning start to the 2024-25 La Liga campaign is over, having suffered a 4-2 defeat to Osasuna in Saturday night's contest at El Sadar.

Bryan Zaragoza was the star of the opening half of action, with his excellent cross being headed into the back of the net by Ante Budimir in the 18th minute to hand Osasuna a shock lead against the division leaders.

The on-loan Bayern Munich attacker then got his name on the scoresheet in the 28th minute of the contest, as he broke through on goal before expertly rounding Barcelona goalkeeper Inaki Pena and then finishing calmly into the back of the net.

With Lamine Yamal and Raphinha on the bench, Barcelona struggled in the first 45 minutes, and it was a deserved lead for Osasuna, who had seven attempts to the away side's two in the opening half of action despite only having 30% of the possession.

Barcelona had a route back into the match in the 53rd minute courtesy of poor goalkeeping from Osasuna's Sergio Herrera, who first gave the ball away with a poor throw before allowing a tame strike from Pau Victor to find a route into the bottom corner.

However, Osasuna restored their two-goal advantage from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute, with Budimir registering from the spot after being fouled by Sergi Dominguez.

There were time for two more goals on Saturday night, with Abel Bretones making it 4-1 courtesy of a long-range effort, before Yamal netted a stunner in the final exchanges to make it a six-goal contest.

Barcelona remain top of the La Liga table, boasting 21 points from their opening eight matches, while Osasuna have risen into sixth position courtesy of their fourth league success of the campaign.

Pau Victor goal vs. Osasuna (53rd min, Osasuna 2-1 Barcelona)

Barcelona halve the deficit, and it is a horror moment for Osasuna goalkeeper Herrera, who somehow allows a weak effort from Victor to find the back of the net.

Herrera had given the ball away moments before with a disappointing throw, and Barcelona have been given a serious lifeline in this contest.

Ante Budimir goal vs. Barcelona (72nd min, Osasuna 3-1 Barcelona)

Osasuna have their third goal of the match, as Budimir scores from the penalty spot, firing into the bottom corner of the net after Dominguez had brought the striker to the ground inside the box.

Osasuna have their fourth of the night, and it is a wonderful hit from Bretones, with Pena standing no chance between the Barcelona sticks.

Barcelona have their second of the match in the final exchanges, and it is a brilliant goal from Yamal, with the teenager smashing the ball into the back of the net from outside the box.

However, it will be too little, too late in terms of the result here.

The attacker's wonderful cross was headed in by Budimir for the first goal of the night, and he then scored a brilliant second in the 28th minute.

Zaragoza also made two tackles during an all-action performance, playing a leading role in his loan club securing a huge victory on Saturday night.
