Barcelona secure narrow win over Los Angeles Galaxy

Goals from Luis Suarez and Sergi Roberto hand Barcelona a comfortable 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy in the International Champions Cup.

Barcelona secured a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy in the International Champions Cup this evening.

Luis Enrique's men were the first team to threaten when Ivan Rakitic delivered a dangerous corner from the left, but Marc Bartra put his header inches past the post.

The Catalan club continued to dominate possession and Luis Suarez almost handed his side the lead with a volley from the edge of the box, but his effort drifted wide.

Suarez almost found the opening goal when he cut in from the left and curled a strike towards the bottom corner, only to see his effort beaten away by Brian Rowe.

The Uruguayan did get his goal on the stroke of half time as he capitalised on poor defending from Leonardo to guide the ball past Rowe from close range.

In the second half, Rafinha should have doubled the Catalan side's advantage as he collected the ball inside the box, but he could only blast his effort over the bar.

Barcelona did double their advantage as the Galaxy failed to clear their lines from a cross into the box, and Sergi Roberto made no mistake as he hammered the ball past Rowe.

Los Angeles carved out an opening as Bradford Jamieson IV raided through the middle of Enrique's side's defence, but his shot failed to hit the target.

The Galaxy threatened again as Edson Buddle raced forward and powered an effort at goal, but Jose Suarez was able to beat his effort away from goal. At the other end of the pitch, Sandro almost added a third goal for the visitors, but he saw his strike clatter off the bar.

The home side got a consolation goal in the final minute when Tommy Meyer headed home from close range from a corner from the right, but the Catalan club held out to secure the win.
