Barcelona reportedly agree a deal to sign Los Angeles Galaxy right-back Julian Araujo for a €4m (£3.5m) fee.

Barcelona have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Los Angeles Galaxy right-back Julian Araujo on a permanent basis.

The Blaugrana have allowed Hector Bellerin to join Sporting Lisbon for the rest of the season, with the former Arsenal man replacing Tottenham Hotspur-bound Pedro Porro.

As a result, Xavi has been left with Sergi Roberto, Jules Kounde and Ronald Araujo to compete for minutes at right-back, but he affirmed that his side would be open to deadline day business.

"We're open to signing one new player, Bellerin asked to leave. We are on it," the Blaugrana boss told the media earlier on Tuesday.

Now, journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Barcelona have reached an agreement to sign Araujo, who will join the Catalan giants permanently for a fee of €4m (£3.5m).

Romano adds that the Mexico international will sign a three-and-a-half deal with Barcelona's B team, although the transfer still needs MLS approval.

Araujo has scored two goals and provided 14 assists in 109 games for LA Galaxy since coming through their youth ranks, and he briefly represented the USA at senior level before pledging allegiance to Mexico.
