Lyon defender Ferland Mendy has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for Barcelona.
Mendy has just started his second season with the Ligue 1 outfit, and the 23-year-old has already gone on to make 44 appearances in all competitions.
The player is yet to earn international recognition with France, but according to Mundo Deportivo, that has not stopped Barcelona from taking an interest.
The report claims that the Catalan giants are keen to bring in high-quality backup for Jordi Alba, who is yet to commit his long-term future to the Spanish champions.
Mendy is contracted to Lyon until 2022, but that may not prevent Barcelona from making a big-money bid for his services next summer.
Ernesto Valverde has also been linked with an approach for Liverpool's Alberto Moreno.
