Barcelona are reportedly closing in on the signing of Palmeiras midfielder Matheus Fernandes, who is expected to be loaned out to Real Valladolid.

Barcelona are reportedly ready to finalise the transfer of Palmeiras midfielder Matheus Fernandes.

While the Catalan giants are said to be prioritising a striker on deadline day, it has not stopped club officials from ensuring that they complete a deal for a player regarded as one for the future.

According to AS, the La Liga champions are on the brink of announcing a deal for Fernandes, who is currently travelling to Spain to undergo a medical.

Despite the transfer being held up because of issues with documentation, it appears that the 21-year-old will now pen a five-year contract at Camp Nou.

The report adds that Real Valladolid are due to benefit from the deal, with Barcelona allowing the former Brazil Under-20 international to move there on loan for the rest of the campaign.
