Barcelona could move for RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano before the end of the month, according to a report.

Barcelona could reportedly move for RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano during the January window.

Leipzig are allegedly open to the idea of allowing the 21-year-old, who has also been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, to leave before the end of the month.

According to Sport, Barca are closely monitoring developments as they consider a swoop for the France Under-21 international before the winter transfer window slams shut.

Upamecano, who missed the second half of the 2018-19 campaign with a knee injury, will reportedly see the release clause in his current deal drop to £53m this summer.

However, the Spanish champions allegedly believe that they would be able to sign the centre-back for a figure in the region of £45m before the end of the month.

Upamecano has made 19 appearances for his Bundesliga club during the 2019-20 campaign, including five outings in the Champions League.

Samuel Umtiti's persistent injury problems have left Barca, who lost 3-2 to Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup on Thursday night, short in central defence during spells of the current season.
