Juventus attacker Federico Bernardeschi came close to joining Barcelona in January, according to a report.

Juventus attacker Federico Bernardeschi was reportedly close to joining Barcelona during the January transfer window only for the deal to fall through in the latter stages.

The 25-year-old has featured on 20 occasions for Juve during the 2019-20 campaign but has only managed to contribute one goal and one assist for Mauricio Sarri's side.

According to Calciomercato, Juve gave the all-clear for the Italy international to move to Camp Nou as part of a deal which would have seen Ivan Rakitic move in the opposite direction.

However, the report claims that the two clubs disagreed over how much each player was worth and therefore the proposed move could not be completed before the window closed.

AC Milan were also thought to have been in for Bernardeschi but could not afford his wages.

Injuries to Ousmane Dembele and Luis Suarez have left the Spanish champions short in the final third of the field, although the former is allegedly closing in on a return from a hamstring problem.
