Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez has confirmed that his club will sign a new striker this summer.
It has long been reported that the Spanish champions are in the market for a new forward as they seek backup to first-choice attacking trio Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.
Atletico Madrid's Luciano Vietto is currently being strongly linked with Camp Nou, and Fernandez has revealed that Barcelona are planning on bringing a new centre-forward to the club.
"We'll go for a forward, and it won't take long to decide [on who it'll be]. One of the most important things we look for in the market is whether they're a good player and that we truly think they can succeed," Fernandez told reporters.
"We always keep in mind that players with potential may cost a little more those with experience, but I repeat we have a great team and must value [our existing players]. There has been talk of many players and many possibilities. We can sign either a young or experienced forward, and we're looking at both. We'll study all possibilities."
Barcelona have also been linked with Sevilla's Kevin Gameiro, although the Spanish club's president Jose Castro recently denied claims that the Frenchman will be allowed to leave the Estadio Ramon this summer.
