Andres Iniesta agrees Barcelona contract extension

Barcelona confirm that Andres Iniesta has signed a contract extension until the summer of 2018.

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has agreed terms on a three-year contract extension, the La Liga side have confirmed.

Iniesta, who has spent his entire professional career at Barcelona, will not remain at the club until the summer of 2018.

"The Barcelona president [Sandro Rosell] has confirmed that Andres Iniesta, who was on contract until 2015, will now be staying at FCB until June 30, 2018," the club said in a statement on their official website. "In 479 official appearances, Iniesta has won 21 trophies at the club."

Rosell was delighted to have concluded the deal and said that the news will be an early Christmas present for all the club's fans.

"We are very, very happy," he said. "I think this is a great Christmas gift for all Barcelona fans."

Iniesta has scored 11 times in 94 appearances for Spain.
