Lionel Messi reportedly wants Neymar back at Barcelona and sent the Brazilian a text asking him to return so that the Blaugrana could win the Champions League again.

A text Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi sent to his former teammate Neymar reportedly sparked the transfer saga that ensued.

The Brazilian tried to force his way back to Catalonia from Paris Saint-Germain but the deal Barca proposed ultimately fell through as the Ligue 1 side held firm to their valuation.

According to L'Equipe, Messi told the PSG forward that he was needed back at the club in order for the team to win the Champions League again.

The feared 'MSN' trident of Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar featured for Barcelona the last time they won the Champions League in 2015, beating Juventus 3-1 in the final to secure a historic treble.

The Brazilian scored Barca's third goal in stoppage time that night to secure the result but left two seasons later to join PSG.
