Report: Xavi to announce Barcelona departure this week

Spanish midfielder Xavi will reportedly announce his departure from Barcelona at a press conference on Thursday.

Spanish midfielder Xavi will reportedly call a press conference on Thursday to announce his departure from Barcelona.

The 35-year-old has been with Barcelona since 1991 and has won eight league titles and three Champions Leagues with the Catalan outfit.

The midfielder has also made over 750 appearances for Barcelona's first team since making the breakthrough in the 1998-99 season.

However, his association with the Spanish club is expected to come to an end this summer and according to Mundo Deportivo, Xavi will announce his next move in a press conference this week.

It is widely thought that the midfielder will move to Qatari outfit Al Sadd, while he is also expected to play a role in the development of young talent at Qatar's Aspire Academy.
