Former Barcelona goalkeeping coach Juan Carlos Unzue believes that Victor Valdes should leave the club this summer as it would be good for both parties.
The Spaniard has one year left on his current deal at the Camp Nou, and he has previously stated that he will not be signing a contract extension with the La Liga champions.
The 31-year-old has admitted that he could see out his final year with the Catalan outfit, but Unzue feels that the time is right for Valdes to bring an end to his relationship with Barca.
"It would be easier and better if he left now and not next year," said Unzue. "[The situation] is a bit messy, left open between the two possibilities - to go or to stay on.
"There is always a fear of change, and although a player can be vital as Victor has been, nobody is irreplaceable.
"If a new keeper comes now, if he is young, and if he finds a strong team, that will help him. Now, and even more with the signing of Neymar, I am sure that the team is strong."
Valdes joined Barca at the age of 10.
