Torquay United have boosted their promotion hopes with a 1-0 win over Barnet.
It was the away side who started the better and they might have taken the lead after just two minutes when Danny Stevens struck from distance, but it drifted just wide.
Barnet began to enjoy a spell of possession as the half progressed, however, and Izale McLeod brought a fine save out of Robert Olejnik after 16 minutes.
Stevens again came close for the away side after 24 minutes, but he fired over the crossbar when he might have done better.
McLeod remained Barnet's biggest threat, and he came close moments before the interval with an effort from inside the box.
Torquay moved ahead four minutes into the second period when Stevens found the top corner from the middle of the goal.
McLeod came close to levelling the match after 60 minutes, but he twice fired wide when he might have done better.
Ricky Holmes came close for the home side after 65 minutes, but he fired over the crossbar with Torquay holding strong in defence.
The home side continued to dominate the play in the latter stages, but just could not secure the decisive equaliser, as Torquay held on for a vital win to boost their promotion hopes.
