Cardiff City are on track to end a run of three consecutive away defeats courtesy of Ben Nugent's goal against Barnsley at Oakwell.

Ben Nugent's first professional goal has put Cardiff City on course for victory over Barnsley at Oakwell this afternoon.

The Welsh outfit have lost their last three away fixtures but had the better of the opening 45 minutes against a Barnsley side that have failed to win any of their previous six home matches.

Kim Bo-Kyung had an early effort deflected over the crossbar before Joe Mason forced Luke Steele into a smart save with his 25-yard drive.

David Marshall was also called into action at the other end when Craig Davies's headed knockdown was struck forcefully by new loan signing Jonathan Greening.

Another Mason shot was tipped round the post from Steele and from the resultant corner, teenage defender Nugent headed Cardiff into the lead.
