Bastia boss Frederic Hantz is to manage the team for a final time this evening, after he was unable to agree a contract extension with the French club.
Hantz has been with SC for all of four seasons and has helped guide the team from National D3 obscurity to a safely-placed Ligue 1 position.
"I couldn't get past that barrier. It was something very important to me. After that, being unable to resolve this issue, and after a lot of thought, I decided to call time," said Hanz, according to the official Ligue 1 website.
"So I made my decision and informed the president (Pierre-Marie Geronimi) this morning (Tuesday). Then I told the coaching staff, the club captain and finally the players.
"I believe that SC Bastia will continue to perform well, but knowing that they will do so without me there is an awful feeling."
Bastia's final game of the season sees them face Nantes on Saturday evening.
