Bastia thrash 10-man Lorient

Bastia score four goals to register a comfortable win over Lorient in Ligue 1.

Bastia have secured a comfortable 4-1 win over Lorient in Ligue 1.

The home side took the lead just six minutes into the match, as Ryad Boudebouz sent in a low shot from the edge of the box.

Bastia were able to double their lead when Wahbi Khazri was fouled while trying to put in a rebound from another Boudebouz strike, giving the hosts a penalty that Khazri was able to convert.

Lorient managed to get themselves back into the game before the break, with a Matheiu Coutadeur strike from 20 yards out taking a big deflection to catch out Bastia keeper Mickael Landreau.

Milos Krasic slotted in the third for Bastia early in the second half, beating two defenders before chipping the ball over Fabien Audard's head.

Jeremie Aliadiere had a chance to get the visitors back into the match again in the 67th minute, but Francois Modesto headed the ball off the line before Landreau was able to gather.

Romaric put the result beyond doubt inside the final 10 minutes, breaking into space inside the box to head in from a Boudebouz delivery.

Lorient finished the game with 10 men on the pitch after Larry Azouni was dismissed for a foul on Julian Palmieri, who had to leave the field with a shin injury, just before full time.
