Freiburg stun Bayer Leverkusen

Freiburg come from behind twice to beat Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

Freiburg have beaten Bayer Leverkusen 3-2 late on in the Bundesliga with a battling performance after twice being behind.

After a strong start from Freiburg, which included a shot from Admir Mehmedi well saved, Leverkusen scored after five minutes with their first chance.

It was a good goal from Lars Bender, who took a touch to control a clearance before firing his effort low into the bottom corner.

Just five minutes later it could have been 2-0 when Emre Can was found in the box, but he saw his effort crash back into play off the crossbar.

Then just before the half-hour mark Freiburg were level. Oliver Sorg found Mehmedi on the edge of the box and he clipped his effort beyond Bernd Leno.

With 10 minutes left of the first half to play, a Gonzalo Castro corner was headed low and in by Simon Rolfes to restore the away side's advantage.

However, Freiburg could not be kept down and they were level soon after the restart when Jonathan Schmid fired in a direct free kick for 2-2.

The result could have gone either way, but in the end it was the hosts who snatched the points as Felix Klaus finished neatly after being found by Schmid.
