Team News: Sebastian Boenisch drops out of Bayer Leverkusen squad

Sebastian Boenisch is replaced by Wendell in Bayer Leverkusen's only change for the match against Freiburg.

Sebastian Boenisch has missed out on a spot in the Bayer Leverkusen squad for the Bundesliga trip to Freiburg on Saturday afternoon.

A reported injury problem has ruled the defender out, causing Roger Schmidt to hand a start to Brazilian full-back Wendell.

Josip Drmic and Max Kruse are both forced to settle for a place on the bench once again as Leverkusen look to keep the pressure on leaders Bayern Munich.

Freiburg are still searching for their first win of the new campaign, and welcome back Karim Guede and Oliver Sorg as Valdimir Darida sits out due to suspension.

Freiburg: Bürki, Sorg, Krmas, Kempf, Günter, Schmid, Schuster, Frantz, Klaus, Guede, Philipp

Bayer Leverkusen: Leno, Hilbert, Jedvaj, Spahic, Wendell, Reinartz, Bender, Calhanoglu, Son, Bellarabi, Kießling
