Bayer Leverkusen's sporting director Wolfgang Holzhauser has claimed that the club have rejected a bid from Chelsea for striker Andre Schurrle.
The European champions are currently seeking a replacement for Didier Drogba, who left the club earlier this summer for a new start in China.
However, it appears that their pursuit of German international Schurrle has ended unsuccessfully.
"We have received a very concrete offer from Chelsea for Andre Schurrle worth over €20m (£15.8m). Both clubs shoved figures back and forth for a while, but we eventually opted to hold on to Andre," Holzhauser told The Express.
"Andre has too much importance for us on the pitch [to let go of him]. He has also made it very clear that he is happy to stay with us."
The 21-year-old scored nine goals in all competitions for Leverkusen last season.
