Half-Time Report: Ingolstadt holding up Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich survive a number of scares in a goalless first half with FC Ingolstadt 04.

Bayern Munich have struggled to find their best in a goalless first half with FC Ingolstadt 04 at the Allianz Arena.

Predictably, Pep Guardiola's side dominated possession from the first whistle as they immediately put the pressure on the visitors, but Robert Lewandowski was kept on the fringes of the game for long spells.

The Polish striker forced his way into space to create the first opening of the afternoon, before Marvin Matip made a crucial block to keep out the shot.

Ingolstadt kept it tight at the back for much of the first half and they could have taken a surprise lead had Matip not sent a header wide after finding space to connect with a corner.

Philipp Lahm was forced to come to the rescue to prevent the Bundesliga leaders from falling behind, and it was Pascal Gross left frustrated before the break as the Bayern skipper made the vital block to prevent him from finishing a fine passing move from close range.

Manuel Neuer then made a fine save from Stefan Lex's strike moments later as Ingolstadt threatened to take advantage against a below-par Bayern.
