Return to action pleases Philipp Lahm

Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm revels in his return to action following a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a broken ankle.

Philipp Lahm has admitted that "it was great to be back out on the pitch" as Bayern Munich recorded a 4-0 win away at Werder Bremen yesterday afternoon.

The Bayern captain had been out of action since November because of a broken ankle that he sustained in a training session.

However, with eight minutes of the contest at the Weserstadion remaining and Bayern three goals to the good, head coach Pep Guardiola handed Lahm his comeback.

"It was great to be back out on the pitch after such a long time away. Many thanks to the team, because I think if it had been tighter I wouldn't have had the chance to come on," the 31-year-old told the club's official website.

The victory has moved Bayern 14 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga standings.
