AC Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has reminded Bayern Munich counterpart Pep Guardiola that football is a contact sport, after the Spaniard fumed with Nigel de Jong on Tuesday.
Guardiola and De Jong became embroiled in a half-time spat during Bayern's 3-0 win after a strong challenge from the Dutchman forced Joshua Kimmich off the field on 21 minutes.
He refused to elaborate on the altercation in his post-match interview, but Mihajlovic defends his midfielder by suggesting that fouls are an ugly yet necessary side of the beautiful game.
"Football isn't dancing and fouls are part of the sport. This is also why games like this cannot be called friendlies," he told reporters.
Juan Bernat opened the scoring in their Audi Cup opener at the Allianz Arena, before Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski sealed the victory in the final 15 minutes.
