Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has said that he wants to regain his place in the hearts of the France fans.
The 28-year-old was suspended for three matches for his part in the controversy that surrounded the national team during the 2010 World Cup.
It was alleged that Ribery and fellow teammate Nicolas Anelka had purposely refused to pass the ball to midfielder Yoann Gourcuff during training sessions.
Upon returning last year, the 28-year-old was jeered by sections of the crowd at the Stade de France.
"When I was first picked it was so amazing, people liked me," he told L'Equipe.
"I really want that all over again. Before, I was the darling of the public and after I was rejected. But my career with Les Bleus is far from over."
Ribery has represented his country 56 times since making his debut in 2006.
