Dante and Javi Martinez wasted the visitors' best chances in a first half in which they dominated, but it was Stuttgart who went closest to breaking the deadlock in the 34th minute.

Martin Harnik towered high inside the area, but his close-range header came crashing off the woodwork.

The score was level at half time, but Bayern finally went ahead in the 50th minute thanks to Mario Mandzukic's 12th goal of the season.

The Croatian striker turned provider for his team's second, crossing the ball for Thomas Muller to apply the finish in the 72nd minute.
