Bayern Munich defeat Nuremberg in Bavarian derby

Bayern Munich win their Bavarian derby away at Nuremberg, with Pep Guardiola's side cruising to a 2-0 victory in the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich have won their Bavarian derby away at Nuremberg, as Pep Guardiola's side cruised to a 2-0 victory in the Bundesliga this afternoon to make it 45 games unbeaten for Die Roten.

Nuremberg started the brighter of the two sides as Manuel Neuer unorthodoxly parried away an effort from Daniel Ginczek.

The hosts thought they had taken the lead when Hiroshi Kiyotake produced an acrobatic scissor kick from a cross, only to see it cannon back off the crossbar with Neuer beaten.

Bayern should have taken the lead after 15 minutes when Martin Angha was robbed in possession by Arjen Robben, though the Dutchman looped his effort off target having been through on goal.

The visitors took the lead in the 18th minute when Mario Gotze picked out Mario Mandzukic at the back post, where the striker was able to hold off a challenge to volley home.

Nuremberg almost hit back before the break when Dante gave the ball away cheaply, allowing Kiyotake to lash a shot just over the bar.

Bayern sought to further their lead going into the interval, but they hit the woodwork twice as Robben saw his effort crash back off the post, before Thomas Muller headed the rebound straight onto the crossbar.

Guardiola's men doubled their lead after half time when captain Philipp Lahm prodded home after the ball was squared to him by Mandzukic.
