Bayern Munich beat Augsburg to win sixth consecutive Bundesliga title

Bayern Munich win 4-1 at Augsburg to clinch their sixth consecutive Bundesliga title.

Bayern Munich have won their sixth consecutive Bundesliga title thanks to a 4-1 win at Augsburg on Saturday.

Jupp Heynckes's charges comfortably saw off their Bavarian rivals at the Augsburg Arena to become champions with five games to spare.

The hosts began brightly as Sergio Cordova saw his effort saved by Sven Ulreich but the rebound came straight off Niklas Sule and bounced into the Bayern net.

However, the visitors drew level on 32 minutes when Corentin Tolisso was left unmarked six yards out to head home from Joshua Kimmich's cross.

Bayern then edged into the lead six minutes later, Juan Bernat flicking the ball into the path of James Rodriguez, who tucked home from close range.

From then on it was one-way traffic as Arjen Robben converted Rodriguez's cut-back and Sandro Wagner headed home a fourth to give Bayern their 28th title.

Having wrapped up Heynckes's fourth crown as Bayern boss, 29 years after the first, the Bavarians are in contention for the treble once again.
