Arjen Robben strike hands Bayern Munich 10-point lead at Bundesliga summit

Bayern Munich extend their lead at the top of the table to 10 points with a 1-0 victory over Hertha Berlin.

Arjen Robben scored the only goal of the game as Bayern Munich went 10 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table with a 1-0 victory over Hertha Berlin this afternoon.

Bayern quickly took control of the game, but wasted an early opportunity to break the deadlock when Robert Lewandowski fired over after being picked out by Thomas Muller.

After dominating possession throughout the early stages, the visitors were finally rewarded with the opening goal in the 27th minute thanks to Robben, who used the space on offer to curl past Thomas Kraft from the edge of the box.

Hertha struggled to produce any response before the interval, and they were fortunate not to fall further behind as both Muller and Juan Bernat fired over from good positions.

The hosts held firm at the back in the early stages of the second half, but their struggles going forward ensured that Bayern always looked in control of the contest.

Ronny would come closest to equalising for Hertha with a speculative long-range strike, which Manuel Neuer kept out with apparent ease.

Lewandowski missed another good chance late on as he dragged a shot wide from an inviting position in the box, but his poor afternoon in front of goal would not prevent Pep Guardiola's side from picking up their 10th victory of the season.
