Real Betis defender passes away

Real Betis defender Miki Roque has passed away at the age of just 23 following a battle with pelvic cancer.

The Spaniard had surgery to remove the tumour in May 2011 after his club raised funds to pay for the treatment by selling wristbands.

Roque played for Liverpool between 2005 and 2009, before joining Betis where he made 14 appearances in the 2010-11 season.

Roque halted his career then the tumour was discovered.
