La Liga referee Jesus Gil and his assistant Angel Nevado Rodriguez have been temporarily suspended following Athletic Bilbao's 2-0 win over Real Betis last weekend.
Betis launched an official complaint following the defeat, which saw them finish with nine men, in addition to having two penalty appeals turned down and concede a spot kick of their own.
It is understood that the basement outfit submitted video evidence to the Referee's Technical Committee, who agreed that mistakes were made throughout the contest.
Betis boss Gabriel Calderon also blasted the referee's performance following the clash in Seville.
The length of the suspension is currently unclear.
