Birmingham City have 45 minutes to preserve their Championship status after taking a 0-0 draw in at half time against Bolton Wanderers.

Birmingham made a positive start to the game and Tom Adeyemi's cross found Nikola Zigic, but the tall frontman's shot was blocked by the Bolton defence.

Chris Burke had a deflected effort on 20 minutes, but Andy Lonergan was on hand to make a comfortable stop.

Lee Clark's side have had the best of the chances, and Lee Novak forced Lonergan into two saves in quick succession just after the half-hour mark.

Zigic had the ball in the net shortly after Novak's second, but the Serbian striker's effort was chalked off for offside.

Hayden Mullins made an interception to deny Jermaine Beckford as the striker appeared set for a shot inside the six-yard box towards the end of the half, but as things stand, Birmingham will be playing League One football next term.
