Two errors from England international goalkeeper Jack Butland have handed Sheffield Wednesday a 2-0 half-time lead over Birmingham City at Hillsborough.
The 19-year-old stopper, who made his Three Lions debut in the 2-1 win over Italy last week, presented Wednesday with a simple 14th-minute opener.
Butland spilled a cross from Mikhail Antonio, allowing Reda Johnson to tap into an empty net from close range.
Johnson nearly doubled the hosts' advantage shortly after, but his header grazed the top of the crossbar.
It could be argued that Butland was again at fault for the Owls' second, as he let a shot from new Wednesday signing Rodri through his legs and into the net.
Lee Clark's visitors created little of their own, so may look to substitutes Nicola Zigic and Peter Lovenkrands to inspire a second-half comeback.
