Half-Time Report: Nikola Zigic gives Birmingham City edge over Barnsley

Nikola Zigic's fifth goal of the season gives Birmingham City a 1-0 half-time lead over Barnsley at St Andrew's.

Nikola Zigic's fifth goal of the season has given Birmingham City a 1-0 half-time lead over Barnsley at St Andrew's.

The Blues, who are looking to extend their unbeaten run to 10 Championship games this afternoon, took the lead on 10 minutes.

Callum Reilly's deflected pass fell into the path of Zigic, who slid the ball into the back of the Tykes' net from four yards.

Barnsley have responded well to falling behind and the Yorkshire side should have drawn level just after the half-hour. Debutante Brek Shea's shot fell kindly for Jacob Mellis, but the midfielder prodded wide from close range.
