Garry Monk admits that Birmingham City could do with some luck to go their way as they prepare for Saturday's Championship trip to Nottingham Forest.

Garry Monk has admitted that Birmingham City need some luck to go their way as they prepare for Saturday's Championship trip to Nottingham Forest.

The Blues fell to a controversial 1-0 defeat at Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday night as Josh Magennis's second-half goal was allowed to stand despite an apparent handball in the build-up.

Birmingham have yet to taste victory in their four league outings so far, losing two and drawing two ahead of the visit to the City Ground on Saturday evening.

"Of course there's a disappointment and I know the feeling. Straightaway after Friday when we didn't get the result we deserved and [Wednesday night] when we didn't get the result we deserved," Monk told reporters.

"They know with the way we're working, along with the commitment and quality we're showing that's what's going to get them where they need to get to.

"We're just going through a period where we need something to go for us. We need one of those chances to go in or we need a decision not to go against us and it will turn for sure.

"It's a long, long season. It's early days but we're doing so much right and we will stick together and keep working and get ready for the next game."

Birmingham currently sit 20th in the Championship table.
