Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett pleased with solid display against Middlesbrough

Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett admits that he was satisfied with the resilient display of his side as they secured a point from their Championship clash against Middlesbrough.

Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett has said that he was pleased with his side's solid display in their goalless draw against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

Tomasz Kuszczak made several good saves to frustrate the North-East outfit over the course of the contest as weather conditions made life tough on both teams.

Demarai Gray could have stolen all three points for the Blues late in the game, but he was denied by Dimi Konstantopoulos, although Rowett has admitted that he was satisfied with the draw.

He told BBC Sport: "Overall on the balance of play, we knew Boro would have more possession, with the way we play most teams will do that, but we limited them and our chances were the better ones.

"The conditions made the game difficult, but that's as good an away performance as we've had all we've had all season and that's saying a lot with the way we've played away this season.

"We were back to what we're good at today, we were strong defensively, much better than for the past few games and with better finishing I'm sure we would have won. Our challenge is to make sure getting into the top six isn't our only achievement."

Birmingham dropped to ninth in the Championship following the draw.
