Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett has admitted that he was delighted for Clayton Donaldson after the striker scored a hat-trick in the 4-2 victory over Bristol City.
Donaldson needed just 41 first-half minutes to find the back of the net three times as Birmingham continued their unbeaten start to the season, and Rowett was quick to praise him when reflecting on another positive display.
"Clayton has worked so hard since I walked through the door," the Birmingham boss told reporters. "They were his first goals of the season and he has been on a team which has not lost in the league or the cup.
"We have got other players to score from different areas but I was really pleased for him as he took his first two goals so well."
Birmingham will look to continue their fine form against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.
