Gary Rowett: 'We lacked quality against Huddersfield Town'

Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett admits that his side lacked a clinical edge in their 1-1 draw against Huddersfield Town at St Andrew's.

Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett has admitted that his side lacked the quality in the final third of the pitch to beat Huddersfield Town in their Championship clash.

David Cotterill fired the Blues ahead in the 10th minute, but they were pegged back when Joe Lolley found the net before the break.

Rowett's men tried to push for a winner in the second half, but were unable to beat Alex Smithies again as they had to settle for a point at St Andrew's.

"I don't think they have taken their foot off the gas but we all know the way things work. Regardless of what you say sometimes there are more on some games than there are on certain other games," Rowett told reporters.

"Today was a game I have tried to play a million times from a different angle - we have got a chance of getting in the top ten, we need to keep performing at home.

"Ultimately if you look at it Huddersfield had lost three on the spin and maybe just had a little bit more edge about their play early on. That sometimes happens. As we have done in some of the games we just lacked a little bit of quality in the final third to then go and get the second goal."

Birmingham are 15th in the Championship table, with 47 points from their 37 matches this season.
