Birmingham City have reportedly made a bid of around £7m for Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah.
The 25-year-old has made 49 Serie A appearances for the side since joining from Hoffenheim two years ago, but contributed just two goals last season and was sent off three times.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Blues manager Harry Redknapp has now made an official approach for the Ghana international and the player himself has "given the all-clear to a potential move".
Acquah, who has previously been linked with Newcastle United, has spent most of his playing career in Italy and has also featured for Palermo, Parma and Sampdoria.
Redknapp has recruited just four players so far this window and recently admitted that there is "a lot of work to be done still" to build a team capable of challenging for promotion.
The side have been knocked back in their pursuits of Bristol City centre-back Aden Flint and midfielder Ravel Morrison, currently plying his trade with Lazio.
