Colin Doyle, Nicola Zigic among eight players released by Birmingham City

Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett releases eight players following the end of the Championship season.

Championship side Birmingham City have released eight players as manager Gary Rowett begins to shape the squad ahead of next season.

Long-serving back-up goalkeeper Colin Doyle and striker Nicola Zigic are among those who will not be offered new contracts.

Doyle will leave St Andrew's after 12 years, having spent most of his time as Birmingham's goalkeeping understudy.

The Irishman made his debut in 2006 and went on to make 62 appearances for the Blues, with four of those coming this season.

Zigic, 34, joined Birmingham from Valencia in 2010 and scored 36 goals in 159 appearances for the West Midlands outfit.

Callum Reilly, Will Packwood, Olly Lee, Matt Green, Gavin Gunning and Kamal Guthmy are the other players who will be looking for new clubs this summer.
