Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown has been given the opportunity to impress at Blackburn Rovers after being named in their reserve squad on Monday night.
Brown has been training with Blackburn since his release from Sunderland at the end of last season but a calf injury has delayed an appearance in a Rovers shirt.
However, the 36-year-old will get some minutes under his belt when the club's Under-23 side face Middlesbrough in a Premier League 2 fixture.
Manager Owen Coyle is already seeking reinforcements to his backline after they conceded 11 goals in their opening four games in the Championship.
Blackburn currently sit bottom of the table and are the only team yet to win a game.
