A Yakubu quartet for Blackburn Rovers secured a home win over Swansea City this afternoon, easing a little pressure on beleaguered manager Steve Kean.
The striker opened scoring after 20 minutes with the help of Gael Givet, before the visitors' Leroy Lita evened things up with a headed goal a quarter of an hour later.
Blackburn controlled play for the rest of the half, which ended in Yakubu's second during injury time.
Yakubu hoped to have completed a hattrick in the opening minutes of the second period, although his effort was declared offside. However, he struck home shortly after in absence of a whistle, giving Rovers a two-goal lead.
The Swans forced their hosts to remain on their toes during the half after Luke Moore scored five minutes after the hour. However, the result was put beyond doubt after 82 minutes after a successful penalty, again from Yakubu.
Kean's men succeeded in holding on to the lead, awarding them a much-needed three points.
